Hey guys! I thought it would be a good idea to start some monthly update blogs for Norah! I am still over my head with these kids (😝) but I think I have a good enough handle to start pumping out these suckers once a month!
So Miss Norah will be 6 months on the 3rd of June. Man that time FLEW by!! She has been doing so much growing up! I just can’t believe it. She has a doctor appointment on the 6th, so I don’t have updated measurements, but as soon as I get them, I will update this blog!
A few milestones that Norah has completed:
- Lifts head while on back
- Open and closes fists
- Pushes down with legs on hard surfaces
- Reaches for dangling objects
- Grasp hands and shakes toys (this one is a very recent milestone)
- Sleeping 6 hours straight
- Mimics conversations
- Rolling from front to back, and from back to front
- Sits with minimal support
- Recognizes bottle/breast
- Looks at things at a distance
- Keeps head level when pulled to sitting
We have also started solid foods. She LOVES to eat solid foods. I have been going back and forth about how to introduce foods to her. I have read a lot about baby led weaning, but I think I am still a little nervous about giving it a try. Anyone else do BLW with their little ones? Please let me know how it went for you! As of right now we are just doing purees that I cook and blend at home. Her favorites include sweet potatoes, carrots, prunes, applesauce, peas, carrots, and peaches. She absolutely hates the green beans ha. We are going to give those a try later on. She is still only eating about 4-6 oz of milk per feeding. Usually the bigger bottles are the first and last ones of the day. She seems to “snack” a lot. Many times it takes her a whole hour to finish a whole bottle.
Norah is quickly on her way to crawling! She can pull herself along with her arms, but has not moved with her belly in the air yet. She does not like to be still or strapped in anywhere. Most babies love the car seat, but not this one. I thought she would grow out of it, but nope. She screams every time she has to get in it. We are still using the baby wraps/carriers as much as possible. She loves being carried that way. Our favorite carrier at the moment is our Tula. We use the Moby every once in a while, but at almost 20 pounds, it isn’t the most comfortable. She falls asleep in the Tula almost immediately. I swear those things have magic sleepy dust embedded in the fabric.
She is currently in 9-month clothing. Look, girl likes to eat. Last time we weighed her, she was 19 pounds and some change. Last month she measured at 25 inches for height. Don’t worry, I will update her stats when she gets her check up!
Her favorite thing to do lately is talk (well a lot of the time it’s still screaming, but in a nice way?). She isn’t screaming or crying anywhere near as much as she was before. I don’t know if it’s her age, or I’m not screwing up anymore lol. Either way I’ll take it! But she is super vocal about everything. When she likes something, or hates it, she is going to let you know. I think that is my favorite milestone so far, it’s fun being able to have a “conversation” with her.
As far as sleeping goes, she has been sleeping through the night for a while now. She usually goes down around 9 or 10 pm. And most days she is up by 7 or 8 am. Sometimes she will want a bottle during the night, but not often. She is sleeping in her crib, but the crib is next to the bed, set up like a co-sleeper. This works out perfectly for us, because she can still be next to me (which keeps her asleep), but I am more comfortable and I get a better nights sleep. Even though I’m so used to waking up during the night, I haven’t slept through the night in months lol.
Hmm I hope I got everything. If I missed anything please let me know! I want to include anything you may be wondering about! Let me know about your babies, or maybe they’re kids now! What were they doing at 6 months. Let’s compare notes! Haha 😝
The exact print of our Tula, is no longer for sale on the site, but many swap groups may have it! But they a TON of beautiful prints to choose from! They have many on their site that are at a very decent price!! Click here to check them out!
UPDATE: At 6 months and 3 days, Norah is weighing in at a whopping 19lbs and is 26 inches long. Her head circumference is in the 12 percentile.
With All The Love!
